Blog/FAQ                                                                Drug & Alcohol Recovery Program

Why is the River Source so much more reasonably priced than its competitors?

Traditionally, we have charged $15,000 for the first month of treatment and $11,000 for each subsequent month. However, we recognize that the unique economic climate of the past two years has had a significant impact on everyone’s financial situation. While people’s finances have changed, it’s also true that struggles with addiction continue for millions of people in America. Because we believe that everyone who needs high level drug and alcohol addiction treatment should be able to receive it at an affordable rate, we have discounted our rates in these tough times to $9500 for the first month and $6500 per month for all subsequent months.

Our prices are set at a lower price because of our commitment to providing high quality residential drug and alcohol abuse treatment to people at an affordable price. While our residential housing is comfortable and ideal for the treatment program we run, it is not a 5-star resort. In fact, we believe that such an environment can be counterproductive to the recovery process because it can often lead to a focus on unnecessary amenities and away from the healing and recovery that must take place at our facility. We offer our patients safe and comfortable housing for a cost effective price. Our special relationship with the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SWCNM), one of the nation’s premier institutes for naturopathic learning that is located in Tempe, also enables us to provide our patients with excellent treatment for a great value. Students and professors at SWCNM work with patients at the River Source Centers, exposing our patients to experienced naturopathic practitioners as well as some of the emerging leaders in the field. Does the River Source accept insurance?

Unfortunately, we do not accept insurance at this time. However, many of our patients submit an invocie to their insurance companies and are reimbursed for the cost of the treatment. We encourage all of our patients to check with their insurance companies to see if they will be reimbursed for the cost of our services. We do anticipate being able to accept some insurance in the near future, so please inquire with our operators when you call about your treatment.

Can friends and family visit me?

The first week of treatment is crucial and therefore we don’t allow any family or friend vistis during this period. We do permit family and friends to contact staff to inquire about patient progress, as long as the patient has signed the proper release forms. After patients have been at our facility for a week, we permit visitos during visiting hours. Visiting hours are Monday throughThursday 4:00pm-8:00pm, Friday 4:00pm-10:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm. For friends and family traveling from out of state, there are a number of hotels within walking distance of our facilities where many family members of patients have stayed when visiting their loved ones.

Does the River Source permit smoking?

YES. There are two designated smoking areas on the River Source campus. While we discourage smoking, we also understand that the stress involved in detox and our intensive treatment is significant and therefore permit it in the short term. However, our long term objective is to have our patients give up all of their harmful addictions, including smoking. All cigarettes brought in to our facility must be in sealed packs.

Can I bring a cell phone/lap top?

YES, although laptop and cell phone usage will be prohibited during the first week at our facility. After the first week, we allow patients use of their laptops and cell phones for one hour each day – between 5pm and 6pm Arizona local time. Laptop and cellphone usage will be at the discretion of the River Source staff.

Should I bring money?

YES. All money brought by patients will be locked in the office and managed by staff on an as needed basis. While meals are provided, patients may pay for any additional snacks they may want. Clients must also bring or purchase any toiletries and other personal items that they might need.

What type of clothes should I bring?

It is important to bring comfortable, weather appropriate clothes and shoes. There are numerous opportunities to work out at the gym, go on a hike, take a run or do yoga. Therefore, we recommend bringing gym shoes, hiking boots, work-out clothes and a swim suit. While patients are allotted both dresser and closet space, we ask that you limit yourself to five to seven changes of clothing. We recommend bringing what fits in one suitcase and one small bag.

How does the Dry Sauna and Vitamin IV therapy help?

We employ our specially crafted Sauna Detox with our Nutritional IV Therapy in order to remove toxins from the body and replace them with vitamins and nutrients. We have found that these treatments are an excellent complement to the counseling and physical activities that comprise our treament program.

Are there laundry services at the facility?

YES. Washing machines, dryers, and laundry detergent are all available to patients at no additional cost.

What is my room like?

Our semi private rooms come with with twin sized beds and linens provided by the facility. However, you may want to bring your favorite pillow or blanket.

Will I have a roommate?

YES. In order to prevent our patients from feeling too isolated and to see other individuals taking the same positive steps, they share rooms with another patient.

Can I lose my privileges?

YES. River Source staff have the power to revoke a patient’s cell phone, laptop or visitng privileges based on insufficient progress or behavioral issues. While this action is not taken lightly, we find that it is sometimes necessary in order to refocus a patient on their recovery process.

Do you provide family counseling sessions?

YES. Family counseling is provided at River Source and often plays an important role in a patient’s treatment process. Our specially trained Life Coaches and Counselors help to facilitate our family counseling sessions. We have a more traditional family counseling session that involves face to face counseling with loved ones and family members. However, because we recognize that our patients come to our facilities from all over the country, we also offer an alternative family counseling session. In this second option, family members and patients undergo family counseling sessions over the phone. While face to face counseling is preferred and offered as often as patients and their families desire, we understand the need for phone therapy counseling and accommodate the sessions to meet family members’ schedules.

What does holistic mean?

When we say we take a holistic approach to treatment, we mean that we are treating the whole person and focusing on their physical, mental and spiritual needs. Experience has shown us that focusing solely on one’s mental or physical or emotional well being will never fully cure someone of their addiction. Rather, it is important to take an integrated approach to treating the whole person – mind, body and spirit.

What does naturopathic mean?

Naturopathy is premised on the body’s natural healing ability and the belief that people are naturally healthy. Naturopathic therapy focuses on removing obstacles to a patient’s cure so that the body can heal itself. The foundational elements of natural health are diet, nutrition, homeopathy, physical manipulation, stress management and exercise. Naturopathic physicians focus on preventative care and treat the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Lifestyle changes and dietary modifications are often prescribed by naturopathic physicians to improve health.

How many days does River Source recommend for treatment?

In our experience, recovery can be a slow and deliberate process that must address many aspects of an individual’s life. As such, we recommend patients stay a minimum of 60 days. However, we also realize some people cannot stay more than 30 days and so we can alter the pace of their treatment as we deem appropriate.

Is there a Graduation Criteria?

Patients entering the River Source must meet the following criteria in order to graduate:
